Bunny Sittin'

Ms Dave got out for a little bit of sunshine, hopping and munching the other day. The kids like to bunny watch in comfort and followed Ms Dave around the entire time, with their chairs. The funny thing is, Ms Dave seemed to have liked the company!

These guys would have been more than happy to have "taken care of" the bunny! Bridger is actually probably about 95% safe with Ms Dave - Billy, not so much!

Before too long ( a month?) we hope to be moving into our house. I haven't blogged about it because it's been going so darn slow, but this is the front of the house and we're looking forward to moving in soon!

How To Catch a Bee

How To Catch a Bee (should you ever want to)

Step 1. Look carefully in shrubs and flowers. Two are better than one so a hunting partner will help.

Step 2. Have the right equipment. A net and a small bowl are ideal

Step 3. After you've caught your prey, carefully transport it to a holding facility

Step 4. Transport the bee from the net into it's new home.

Note: You will need a trusted and capable assistant for this. We do not recommend that you try this step alone.

Step 5. Place net, with entrapped bee, over the bee's new home and wiggle it out. This step takes the utmost concentration and skill. Not to be done by amateurs!

Step 6. Carefully check to see if you succeeded in a successful transfer

Step 7. Carefully insect your bee for injuries

BE WARNED:

Bee catching is a delicate operation and should NOT be handled by amatuers. Many will volunteer to help you but below are some types that you should avoid in your potentially dangerous bee catching endeavours.

Amazingly, no child was harmed in the taking of these pictures. At least 20 bees were caught and flew away, er, were released....

Kids, Dogs, a Grasshopper and a Rabbit

Here are some pictures from the last couple of days.

I bought the kids five new hankies at the store and since they were all new and matching, we figured that The Pack needed to model them before they got all used and snotty. A fine looking Pack, if I might say so myself. This is the best picture of all the dogs but Ellie's hankie had fallen off, so I had to take another picture :)

And here they all are! My stylin' Pack! And yes, that's Bill in the middle. He's almost as big as Ellie!

The Easter bunny arrives in Uganda!

Since we got an Easter box yesterday from my old chum Susan, we broke out the Easter festivities today! And wouldn't you know it but Ms Dave even stood in for the Easter bunny. I think it takes the Easter bunny a little while to get over to Uganda but we were sure glad she made it! And since she did, we decided to throw a little Easter Bunny picnic.

Ms Dave didn't seem too interested in her food though - a little of Frankie's sandwich here...

No, these didn't come out of the back end of an animal - or maybe Uganda has a HUGE Easter bunny!!

This boy loves his rabbit :) He must have sat for 10 minutes brushing her! And she likes her boy too. Animals seem to sense that he means no harm.

The puppies did great with Ms Dave today. I started out by spanking a too interested Ranger with a magazine and that was all it took. He is a major wussy boy and it traumatized him so badly that he slunk in and hid in the house, then was afraid to even look at the bunny for a while :) Madea did great too and only required one or two swats to get the point across. Our half hour Pack Walks five days a week have really made a difference in the dogs, especially the pups. They are much easier to calm down and not as excited/anxious.

Friends, BBQ's, puppies, kittens and rabbits

I have yet to post pictures of our wonderful Christmas road trip, visit with friends and Kidepo National Park adventure, but until then thought I'd post some other "at home" pics since the New Year.

We have really been enjoying our friend Tanya whose been staying with us. She's been a HUGE Godsend as not only is she cheerful, friendly, calm, working on being assertive and brought a TV series to watch, but she also COOKS!!! Yep, you read that right, COOKS!!! And she claims that she even sort of likes it! She also cleans the kitchen too! I mean, what more could you ask for?

Tanya's a really good influence in that she always gets me out doing things that I don't normally do (like spending money!) and going places that I don't usually go (the fancy meat deli in Kampala, cool coffee shops, etc). So we've been living high on the hog lately, eating a variety of yummy food that SHE'S COOKING!!!

So, we've spent our days watching movies, eating delicious things, enjoying our 'pack', practicing dog psychology and generally just enjoying ourselves. The weather is always perfect, too!

The other day we had a bbq with some awesome sausages that we'd bought in Kampala. They weren't the cheap slimy type that we usually get here, but some REAL ones!
